About the event

The Forum for Global Human Rights (FGHR) would like to invite you to our panel event "The Understanding & Delivery of Scotland’s Wellbeing Economy", which will be held in-person on Monday, 27th March, 2023 in Seminar Room 4 of the Chrystal Macmillan Building at the University of Edinburgh.

FGHR has organised a panel of experts on the Wellbeing Economy, including professors, MSPs and officials from high-impact NGOs, to discuss ways that our economy can be designed to serve the needs and interests of the people and the planet. We are honoured to have Mr Paul McLennan (Scottish National Party MSP and Convenor of the Wellbeing Economy Cross-Party Group), Dr Jan Eichhorn (Senior Lecturer in Social Policy at the University of Edinburgh) and Dr Line Christensen (Executive Director at Jubilee Scotland) join us for a panel discussion and a Q&A session to share their knowledge and experiences on this topic. This panel event is sure to be an exciting opportunity for students seeking to practically apply their economics and social sciences education to address contemporary human rights issues, as well as those interested in the core principles and policies of the Wellbeing Economy and finding out how Scotland can work towards this monumental goal.

Event reflections

“Though I had met the members of the FGHR via Zoom, it was my first time meeting them in person, and to be honest, I was nervous. However, everyone made me feel really welcome, and it was a delight to be there! The event itself was really informative. The issue we addressed was extremely important, especially since it’s going to affect our future tomorrow. Each speaker drew me into the conversation by emphasising the significance of how we define well-being, who it affects the most, and how we can put measures in place to make it more successful. I’m glad that FGHR exists as a forum for individuals of various backgrounds to debate critical topics in our community.” - Asheema Kour, Content Writer
